Intercontinental Music Awards, Hollywood, CA, USA, selects Nigerian Artist Ambassador

The Los Angeles-based InterContinental Music Awards (ICMA) is globally inclusive, recognizing top quality music from all genres by a panel of judges who are active industry professionals and Hollywood music executives. The judging panel consists of amazing music executives, producers, stars associated with acts like Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Bella Thorn, Westlife, Gloria Estefan, Celine Dion, Ricky Martin and many Grammy Nominated/Winning Artists as well as companies such as NBC, Warner Bros, MTV, Netflix, CBS and Sony. Some Winners of the Intercontinental Music Awards have gone on to win a Grammy Award or Nomination. The awards offer a pathway to international recognition for winners, with rewards of Education, prizes, and high-quality support on how to be successful in the Music Industry.

The ICMA Awards has selected Mercy Alu, AKA Ngozi, an award-winning artist, songwriter, producer, author and researcher from Nigeria, as Ambassador. Alu is excited to bring this opportunity to both established and upcoming artists here in Nigeria and other parts of Africa, who want to take their music career to an international level. In her own words, “The world is a global village now, so let your voice be heard. Nigerian/African Artists are highly talented and have a lot to offer on a global level. Afro-beats and other musical genres from Africa are gaining recognition. We need more Artists from Nigeria and Africa as a whole to represent and gain recognition in Hollywood”.
Alu’s music has won several awards including the Hollywood and African Prestigious Award (HAPA); Global Peace Song Awards with United Nations recognized ICON; the ICMA Best of Africa award; (HAPA) Best Upcoming Female Artist, Africa. Her music was recently recognized at the semi-finals level for the International Acoustic Music Awards, 2023. Alu has liaisoned/collaborated with various Afro artists including Nigerian pop musician Alex O., South African Lucky Dube, Jamaican Rica Newell (Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers, Stephen Marley), Ghanaian Magic Rocker and other well accomplished artists/producers. Alu’s music was featured on Voice of America’s Africa: English-to-Africa service program.
