The drums are in an integral place in our culture, they speak rhythms of who we are, where we are from and where we are going.
Having gotten a leader Arakunrin Oluwarotimi O. Akeredolu SAN, Governor of Ondo state, to rescue their ship with his administration, the citizenry of the sunshine state couldn’t have had its week-long celebrations without the rhythmic sounds of the drums, having known where they are going.
The news of her possible performance during the week-long celebration had the people agog in great anticipation and the drum goddess ARA drummed out rhythmic sounds from the drum world to further excite their anticipatory mood.
The celebration which kicked off with a public lecture by the guest lecturer, professor Akin Oyebode who spoke on the theme “Rethinking the Nigerian Nationhood: Issues and Challenges” started on the 19th and ended 25th of February, 2018.
The drum goddess, a culturistic personage, dubbed the people with the feeling of the passion of the drums as she beat out rhythms that gladden the people.
Along with Ara’s performance, other activities that took place were media chat, novelty matches, Jumah service, interdenominational service and many others.
Akeredolu who sent words of thanks to Ara for marvelling the people with her performance of class, commissioned projects across three senatorial districts and flagged off construction of new projects in the areas as part of activities marking his first year in office.
