DORCAS BENTU

Dorcas Bentu is the second of five children by Lucas and Patricia Bentu. Her father was the First Professor of Fine Arts in Northern Nigeria whose paintings have been exhibited in several countries around the world.

Bentu has released four Albums and other collaborative works with other artistes, notable among them are Dr. Panam Percy Paul, Ice Prince, Adu Deme, Jesse Jags, etc. Bentu’s credit also includes jingles for PRTV Studios, Awareness campaign musical production on Tax for Plateau State Government, Skits, and musical production for INEC. Her life concert experience spans over three decades, appearing in major concerts around the country and beyond. Bentu has over the years also worked with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Plateau State as a Cultural Officer, and distinguished herself as a HIGH-PERFORMANCE OFFICER during her public service years.

She disengaged from the public sector in 2008 to set up an entertainment company called Tapshak Entertainment limited which markets, manages, promotes, and packages arts and culture, event management and tour promotions. She graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, majoring in Industrial Design (Ceramics). She went to St. John’s college, JOS for her secondary Education. She schooled at the all saints school (Primary), Zaria.

She is a proud recipient of several music awards and nominations. Notable among them are:

  • Award of Honour for the Pioneering role in the sustenance of Gospel music on the Plateau –Jesus our Savior Ministries

  • Award of Honor for Propagating Christ Through Music – Queen Shallom Crew
  • Outstanding Contribution to Gospel Music – JCMI
  • Mentorship Award – Queen of Culture & Tourism
  • Outstanding Promoter of Arts and Culture Award – RATTAWU
  • 2013 Leadership Excellent Award – YMCA
