Grace Komolafe – Awoko

Singer/Songwriter, Komolafe Grace a potential rising  gospel singer popularly called AWOKO by her fans, is a native of Lampese in Akoko, Edo local government Area, whose hopes and aspiration is to take over the world and become a great woman in her chosen profession with the desire to affect people’s life positively with her inspirational songs.  

Her first album “Thank You” from Awoko Music International has eight tracks and was launched on 21st, June 2015 at the ALT Event Centre, Abule Egba in Lagos where influential personalities like the Lagos State Chairman, Association of Juju Musician of Nigeria {AJUMN} Ambassador Segun Nabi, Financial Secretary, Association of Juju Musician of Nigeria {AJUMN} Mr Ola King Champion Kunle Opio and others, graced the memorable event. She had her first video/single in 2014 while she launched her 1st album in 2015. Awoko has since then been consistent with what she loves doing as she has added couple of singles to her album. In 2017 (December 17), she hosted a concert tagged TEHILLAH ZAMAR and intends to run its 2nd edition (TEHILLAH ZAMAR RELOADED) by June 2018. Awoko as fondly called grew up in a Christian family, Hence, can’t stop being inspired by her life, nature and happenings around the world.

She started her musical career at the age of twelve in the church choir ministry and has been on top of her game since then. She had performed at various events such as Special praise programmes, Open crusade, Concerts, Wedding ceremonies, Housewarming and so on. According to her “At the age of twelve, I already discovered myself, I got motivated, which made me stick to what I know best, my parent saw it coming and gave me the total support and freedom.” Speaking of her challenges, she revealed that despite all the rough and tough journey so far, she never gave up because of the passion she had for music, and God remains faithful. “Many distractions have surfaced towards my musical career, but my God remain faithful to me; ability and zeal kept me going; my passion for music is so strong.” She added.  

Grace Komolafe is a Nigerian, and she has been able to infuse her dialect (LAMPESE) into her songs to embrace her culture, she got the name AWOKO from one of her lecturers in school while watching her dramatic performance and way of singing, with a unique voice effect that made her songs penetrate so easily, with matured and deep words, messages clear and direct. Her video (SE LOBA) was recently aired via NTA2 following her recent interview on the network service of the NTA both internationally through DSTV as a Rising Star during the Eater celebration period this year April 1st, 2018.
